About

I’m a mother to 2 sweet kids, Juan and Clara, my eldest is already studying at Waldorf, my youngest agreed to wait until she’s 5.

Nanay yellow

I prefer to be called nanay, but my kids got used to calling me mama and mommy. So the name NanayManila is my heart’s wish they will do so (one day), even when they are not trying to get on my good side.

I had a difficult time getting pregnant, it was an even more difficult pregnancy so nanayhood didn’t come easy.  Maybe its true for first time nanays, but it was definitely true for me, I couldn’t find what should have been natural.  I was so afraid to think that maybe the instinct wasn’t there.

So like a true geek cramming for finals, I hungrily read and watched everything and anything I can get my hands on about it.  I flipped-flopped, tried all the gadgets and thingamabobs to “help my child be the best he can be“.  That whirlwind lasted a few years until I found Waldorf (again).

The calm came when I realized nanayhood may not really be easy but it still is inside.  I just needed to listen harder.

This is my continuing journey, as a mother and as a person, I hope you and your child can get something from it as well.

Thank you for visiting.

Listen to your inner nanayhood,

Theresa

Hi OJ! I’m so sorry for the very late reply. A lot has happened, but I am back and will be posting more about Waldorf so you can read up on it.

What are the ages of your kids? for what grades are you looking at?

But a quick answer to your question. My assessment? It’s the most nurturing and supportive educational system we found for our kids. It not only enriches their mind but help provides a structure for them to grow more whole. The approach is not only mental, but emotional and spiritual. It is a non-sectarian school but the spirituality goes beyond religion and allows the parents to interject their own religion in the child’s upbringing.

I hope that gives you a sense of it for now, discussing waldorf requires a whole lot more conversations and you need to experience it first hand. I am now part of a parent initiative that is helping the school, (yes that is how much we love it!) and part of our objective is to assist the school to bring the information out there. Let me know if you would like to visit the school and I will tour you around.

Hope you’ll come back to read more about it in the coming days.
